Gimme 2 steps

Well Marc is now officially in the appartment as of the 19th I believe. Sharon packed most of his room up for the move. Whatever he did'nt. It took 1 day to get 80% of the stuff there and another to do the rest... But there's still work to do with the appartment but nothing major, some touch ups primarily. However apparently the heat does'nt get up there too well... So we have to figure out what to do with the radiators... All the breathers look shot and painted over 1000 times to me. I really don't know why the previous guy never complained but whatever... So hopefully 1 more month of mayhem and then I'm done...

The place looks pretty good with furniture. The living room kinda throws me of a little but I'm not too fond of the idea of using a bed as a couch. I don't have to live with it though. I'd rather use any old couch I could come accross then a bed, for more than one reason. On the another side the bed can come in handy as well.

Dad came up from Florida on the 17th to the 21st ... The coldest weekend of the year so far, and I bring the old man up from warm sunny Florida... It was 45 and he was shivering like it was 10. It was a pretty quiet visit. I think he was a little bored without the kids being around, but he said that it was a nice break. He helped out with the final touches on Marc's appartment. Help well needed, and he was a major help in moving Marc. He basically loaded and unloaded the truck himself while Kevin and I figured out how to get the bed out of the room and into the appartment without breaking it. I kinda felt bad that his visit was all work and no play but atleast he got to see us... and I was surprised he liked flying... He just was worrying about getting to the plane before boarding time. Was'nt worried about the time of arrival just getting to the boarding area on time.

This weekend todo list is already building as we speak already but it's not that bad yet. I might be able to sit down for 15 minutes... ;-)

Speed update...

Well I was sick for the from 1/28 to 2/5 about a week and a half. Doctor says it was the Flu... The sucker just would'nt let go. I'm feeling quite a bit better, but my voice is gone as per usual.

Since then we have been working on Marc's appartment... The appartment above J... The previous tenant obviously did nothing to the appartment since he moved in 6 years ago. It was a pretty hideous site... He got a dog right before Fred passed away and I mean a BIG dog so it was smelly and some minor damage to the woodwork. The rugs had to be removed and some work will have to be done to the floors underneath. Marc and Jessica kinda likes the wood floors. That suits me fine...

The wallpaper I think was there since before Fred bought the house.... That had to go, and since I hate wallpaper paint was in order... The walls are'nt beautiful but acceptable for the most part. There's some fixin that has been done and more to do, but it will do for now to get hime in there.

The electrical however was and still is in shambles. I had to replace a bunch of cable in the ceiling cause there was a short that just would not go away. So I just replaced all the old cable with newer cable. Problem solved for that... There's still 3 switches and 1 fixture that does not work and I don't even know what the switches are for, but I'll get to that. I figure 2 switches are for the hall light... You know one of the important ones, so you don't trip up the stairs. Oy...

I have no idea how this guy lived like this. I mean I'm not big on cleaning, but I'd like to think I would do atleast a little better job than that. I think it's irresponsible to leave it like that. I think he should have told us it was in such bad shape along time ago.

Oh and the bathroom looks like it's never been cleaned. I mean so bad that I think the tub will actually have to be replaced. The ceramic coating is worn off. Not so important but on top of it somehow the tub is actually installed backwards. The drain is on the opossite side of the tub from the shower head, so even if you wanted to take a bath it would'nt be all that comfortable... I'm seriously considering, just installing a shower. Marc had said that's what he wanted anyway, and it may be a nice quick fix... I think it's cheaper than a tub, and easier to install... The tiles have brown mold/mud or some other substance growing in the grout. So that will have to be done as well.

On top of this, apparently someone in the past fixed a leak in the bathroom wall. Well rather than using the correct material to patch it. They used plaster of paris. Now that's just plain dumb in a bathroom, cause all the moisture made the wall sag. The result a huge bubble on the wall, full of plaster under the wallpaper. I mean I wish I would have known this prior. I would have fixed it before. We really should have looked at the appartment after we took control of the house, but I thought the tenent would have mentioned anything wrong. And there's plenty.

Thank god its a small appartment or I'd have alot more work to do...
There's still plenty of work to do, but it will get done... I wanted him in there by the 15th but I'm not so sure...

On another note....

If you try to leave a comment you will be asked for a security code that is displayed on the page. I had to do this because the site was getting alot of spam in the comments. I was getting atleast 50 a day posted to the site, so I had to do something about it. This is the best solution I can think of without making it user/password based...

Well until next time...
