Nothing new

Jason went camping for the weekend... Had meeting w/Brian... The corporation now has a name we can really deal with. It's kind of a compilation name. I will reveal it as soon as the shares are sitting on my desk... Next to decide is share distribution. We have a couple of solutions on the table so we will see how it goes.

I have one possitive customer and 4 prospects... One of the prospects is a pretty decent size manufacturer. I think we may be able to provide them with a complete business solution. I have to talk to Brian and Sharon to decide how to handle this because this may be larger than we can handle. We are going to need the help of George for sure because they want an EDI solution. I'm thinking that Alex will be needed as well. I can only hope it's that large. My fingers crossed...

First Entry from the new puter

Well here's the first entry from our new computer.
Keyboard is awsome... I like the feel. Unfortunately I had to reinstall it the day after we set it up but I think it was for the better anyway. All the extra crap Gateway loads was wiped and only the stuff we actually use is installed. But I really was not in the mood to install it right away. One of their Preinstallation programs was hung up and whenever you logged on as an administrative user it would reset all the settings on me. I could'nt find this damned thing anywhere. I checked everything I could think of to remove it. But it kep coming back... But like I said it's for the best anyhow.

These speakers kick ass... Beautiful sound...

I've been trying to download Red Hat 9 for the past couple of days for the server I aquired. I was able to get the images for disc 1 & 2 after a few trys but disc 3 is still giving me grief. I've tried so many different ftp sites and each and every one is a corrupt iso image. grrrr I really wish I knew how to create a disc from the rpm's. It's probably simple I just don't want to look anything up at the moment. I am burnt out.

new puter arrived

So our new Gateway arrived yesterday...
Not knowing exactly what we were doing with it. It wound up taking us like 5hours to set it up... I don't mean the software I mean the strategic placement of it. Not to mention I had to run another damn ethernet cable. I hate snaking them thru the walls. I really need to re-setup my wiring already. Only 6months later I've already got a minor mess happening. Grrrrrrr. I was hoping to avoid that. Maybe I will actually buy a patch panel. I can't stand wires all over the place. I have to look at them at work I don't want to see em home too....
I thought I caused a network nightmare but it seems RR was having intermitent trouble, so I was trying to find an elusive non-existant problem...........

I tell you though after starting this thing up and listening to the sound system on it I don't need a stereo system anymore. Holy crap... I've alway liked Boston Acoustics but these bad boys take the cake.

La'mours can eat my ass

I wanted to make a quick comment on La'mours. This place used to be legendary and today they make me laugh. They make preparations for teens shows and expect the bands to sell tickets. If the band don't sell enuff tickets they can't play. So if the band sells 5 tickets and they have to sell 20, the five tickets they did sell are no good and the band does'nt play. This is pretty f'ng pathetic of them. The whole point of the show is for them to make money and for the kids to get heard. If you don't let them play, they don't get heard and they can't sell tickets. So whatever shmuck thought of this is a real asshole. Oh and in the spot where the band is to play that got bumped they do nothing so in turn the next band will loose people to see them. Usually people will stay around to see the next band. Hence the possibility of their following will grow. And that will put money in La'mours pocket the next time. Think about it one of these bands you shun may become the next Metallica. So basically with this little explaination I have one big FUCK YOU to La'mours you guys can eat shit cause I will be down talking you from now on. I guarentee they will never again see me in thier peice of shit establishment.

In review

Well Jason is home ...
He got here thursday evening. He was sitting in the kitchen when I got home from work. He was his usual self. and of course grandma was in rare form.
Jason has been a busy beaver since he's been here. Thursday/Friday night he went to happy hour(s) at the 11th alley. Saturday he went to Jeremy's wedding and of course at the reception someone ("He's not to sure who... It could have been him though... But somebody" ;-)) jumped into the fountain at the reception. I guess it was a wetting not wedding. Anyway someone I won't mention any names(JASON) also came home pretty damn smashed at 3 in the morning. He can be so funny sometimes.

Saturday for us... We had a really unexpected kewl day w/Kevin and Cathy. They had some stuff to do but they dropped it and hung w/us. Cathy's foot was hurtin too much anywhoo. So Kevin and I took a spin out to Five Towns to a place I believe was called Crazy Arnies to fill up my propane tanks for the grill. So we had a BBQ in the yard. I know Sharon enjoyed herself too cause she was'nt running around the whole time. That made me happy too. She likes hanging out with them alot. We alway seem to have fun. We don't have to do anything outragous and yet we do.
Sunday was kind of a slow day. Sharon slept late till 2pm (don't forget we were up until atleast 4:30am) I was already up chitchatting w/Jay. So I was tired when she got up. Marc had a show to goto at La'mours so he was gone most of the day. And Jay was heading out to the island to see Kathy Schmidt and mom. We did take a ride to Micro Center to see if the had any decent Armoir Desks but I did'nt really like what they had. We came straight home cooked dinner and watched a movie.

On another note. Anthony Vile was shot last tuesday in central park. He is currently in the hospital. I really don't know much more at the moment but I'm sure I'll find out more soon.

So last night we bought new living room furniture at Levitz... As if we hav'nt already spent enuff money ;-)
But seriously we needed it. Our furniture looks ok but the comfortability it's kind of lacking now a days. It's kind of taking a beating. So Kevin an Cathy took a ride with us over there. That place is huge ! They had a whole warehouse full of returns/damages/closeouts to boot. I seen alot of nice stuff in their too but it seemed kind of risky when you buy from the warehouse. Some of the pieces you could inspect for 10 minutes and not find a thing wrong with it. But you know there is. It would not be there if there was'nt.

So with the old furniture we were thinking about a sitting area in the back of the basement . It's still functional. I think that would be nice. But like everything else we need to clean up again, and have time to do it.
I cannot believe the amount of shit that we have. I've been trying to figure out how we fit into an appartment. I mean I know we did'nt have wood and drywall laying around like we do now but even just our stuff is so much. The old appt must have been much bigger than I thought.
Also I've got to get rid of that broken 125 gallon fish tank. I really hate to toss it. I mean it's been there since I'm a baby but like Jason say's you just need to trash and burn sometimes.

Update (I forgot to mention)

So last monday (7/7/03) we finally bought a new computer... A Custom Gateway 700X ... P4 3.2 Ghz, 500GB, the whole nine yards ($4500.00). I've been holding off for soooo long now. We were so use to having a major upgrade every year and then all of a sudden we stopped. It's been 3 years since I got our P3 now and it still kicks ass but it's time. It will not be retired, I think it will become a file server. I really don't know as of yet.
On top of that Marc got the benifit of me being a really nice brother and I bought him a new machine as well... A Gateway 500X... P4 2.6Ghz, 250GB... ($1500). I must be stupid buying him a new machine. He really does'nt deserve it, but hey he's my brother. So I felt like being nice. His machine really was starting to give problem's so I decided it was the best thing to do. Man he's a lucky shit. I wish I was my brother. The worst part is I'm not to sure he appreciates it. Oh well he'll learn later on when he's out on his own how good I've been to him. When that day comes I think cows will have landing gear though.

I've also aquired a dual Xeon server. It's a compaq, and I hate compaq but for the price I'm not going to complain. It was one of the old backup webservers from work. It's pretty damn powerful. It was going to be dismantled so I asked if I could have it and now it's mine. I have no fucking clue what I'm going to do with it but I'm sure I'll make some use of it.

I've been thinking about writing a backend system to communicate with OsCommerce for POS/IC. I was thinking this was a good way to promote and maintain OsCommerce from a local machine at a customers site.
How is the question... WebServices (SOAP) seems to be the best option. I'm not to sure on secure though. I have to check if SRLNet supports SOAP of course but this sounds like a pretty good solution for communication. I'd hate using a GET/POST type of data transfer. But if this is the only way then so be it.

We shall see...

July 09, 2003

The fourth worked out pretty well. I picked up some steaks. Brian picked up some JUMBO shrimp and Fred brought salads. Grandma came down and we had a feast. It was rather a sequence of food. It was a little too much work but hey what can you do. You gotta pay somehow right.

Saturday we went out to Micro Center for some books for Brian. I want him to learn some behind the scenes stuff so he has a better grasp of things. Sometimes he has some pretty convoluted ideas about how things work. I know he's knowledgable but sometimes he still thinks like a newbie. He's actually afraid of cookies... That's for newbies not for someone of his caliber. He should know that. I could see if you don't want a site to count your visits or know the last time you where there but other than that it can't record much more about you than you've already given. Well I'm not going to got full into it but I think the jist is here. And you know what... If you have JavaScript or VBScript turned on in your browser that's where the real danger is. I'll teach him right yet.
On another note I must be insane. I went out and bought us and Marc new computers from Gateway... $6500 when I was done. Ouch. Well it will be top of the line for the next week atleast(I hope). I decided it just was not worth my time to go and build it again. I guess I'm getting lazy in my old age (or is it reasonable;-) . So early next week we will have our new toy. Yippee... Now I need to go out and buy furniture for it.

So far Queens Conulting will be the name of the company. I really can't think of much else. I know it's not the best name, but it is a name. Brian and I will hopefully make this successfull although right now I'm not to sure how to get it to that point. But things grow slowly. I created a nice but simple page for Queens Consulting. It's not finished yet but I plan to be soon. And I'm still getting use to WHM and CPanel any way. Then we can get down to the nitty gritty. Brian made an appt with the law office for thurs. so we'll see how it goes.

The Beginning

The words I hear in my head for each new endevour.

In the beginning
Good always overpowered the evils
Of all man's sins.......
But in time
The nations grew weak
And our cities fell to slums
While evil stood strong
In the dusts of hell
Lurked the blackest of hates
For he whom they feared
Awaited them.......
Now many many life times later
Lay destroyed beaten beaten down
Only corpses of rebels
Ashes of dreams
And blood stained streets.......
It has been written
"Those who have the youth
Have the future"
So come now children of the beast
Be strong
And Shout at the Devil

  • Motley Crue

Today is the un-official beggining of Queens Consulting Corp.. It would be the official begining but the Corporation is not setup as of yet. However the http://www.queensconsulting.com is and so is the first account for re-salable web space.

It looks as though Brian will join me on my quest for independence. There are obviously concerns that need to be addressed but in the long run I think we can work them out. I will obviously be leading this project at this point but plan on sharing the responsibilities as soon as his knowledge of how to put things together properly build. I'm pretty sure he can it.

Friday is July fourth... BIG BBQ time. So far it will be Sharon, Marc?, Fred, Grandma, and Brian. Hope all goes well. I want to invite Tony & Debbie but I'm sure they don't want to hang around with a bunch of people they don't know, on a holiday.
